This new language that we speak, at first, intrigued me. Then it baffled me.
What was UGC (User Generated Content)? I can create it. But I absolutely needed to learn how it could, can and will impact our clients.
UGC is now being hyper-realized with social media. Sites like MySpace, Facebook (my personal favorite), and YouTube represent the convergence of user-commentary with video, photos, and music sharing - all presented in a simple, user-friendly format that allows participation on a large scale.
As I visit my Facebook page twice a day to see what my brother and cousins and friends and neighbors are all doing… I realize that my brother just promoted iPhone, my cousin made a plug for a play she’s in and Steve is selling his art online. Branding. Promotion and product placement - in our own hands.
According to an April 2007, iProspect/Jupiter Research study, the most frequently visited social networking sites are visited by approximately one out of every four Internet users at least once a month.
So, as I plan my weekend let me share with you all: I’m sitting here with a cup of Rainforest Blend from Stockton Graham while I consider taking Cast in Place Concrete Countertops 101, at The Concrete Countertop Institute.
Tomorrow, I’m going to order some office furniture from Kennedy Office Supply and take my parents to see Glenaire, a spectacular Continuing Care Retirement Community located in Cary.
If you haven’t all heard about the upcoming 2008 Sustainable North Carolina Awards and Sustainable Solutions Expo, it’s going to be awesome this year! In fact, Fred Adams Paving offers its clients sustainable solutions while creating some of the most beautiful paving projects I’ve ever seen in my life.
Lastly, IF you’re in the market for a home, I just have to tell you about Inwood Forest located just 6 minutes from the heart of downtown Raleigh. Where else can you build a custom home from $550K, within an exquisite forest just minutes from everything on over an acre lot?
I hope you all have a great weekend. More importantly, I hope some of you take a look at our clients based on my comments above.
This is why social media works.
This is how social media works for you.
